American Battery Technology Company recycles lithium-ion batteries to recover lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese, and is developing its own lithium resource and refinery.
It recycles manufacturing scrap as well as end-of-life batteries, and develops its extraction, recycling and refining processes in-house. It sells recycled black mass and has U.S. Commerce Department approval to export up to $100 million of it.
ABTC is headquartered in Reno, Nevada, and is listed on Nasdaq as ABAT. Its Tonopah Flats Lithium Project includes a $115 million first phase of a commercial-scale lithium refinery, backed by a Department of Energy grant that was cancelled in 2025 and later reinstated on appeal.
