Burns & McDonnell provides energy storage design, construction, and related services. Their portfolio includes experience with a range of storage technologies, such as lithium-ion and flow batteries, pumped hydro, compressed air, cryogenic/liquid air, and thermal energy storage. The AZCO construction arm has fabricates specialized equipment for BESS projects (a custom battery module jig to install four battery modules), and Burns & McDonnell has been involved as a contractor on battery storage EPC projects, including a 17 MW / 35 MWh BESS with black-start capability and projects featuring CATL EnerOne racks with lithium iron phosphate batteries.
