Compular
About
Compular is a Swedish software company that uses multiscale modelling and AI to predict material properties, so that R&D teams can screen formulations before lab work.
For batteries, its Compular Lab service uses molecular dynamics and DFT simulations to predict electrolyte properties such as electrochemical stability windows, decomposition pathways behind SEI and CEI formation and gassing, and transport properties, for Li-ion, Na-ion and other chemistries. The company grew out of Dr. Rasmus Andersson's PhD work with Prof. Patrik Johansson at Chalmers, where the patented CHAMPION analysis toolkit at the core of its platform was created. Customers quoted on the site include Solvionic, ZSW and Morrow Batteries.
The 2025 Battery Report lists Compular under multiscale modelling.
