About
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the workplace health and safety regulator for Great Britain. We enforce health and safety law, investigate serious incidents, provide guidance, in addition to providing bespoke research and consultancy, and testing and monitoring services. HSE’s battery safety work has involved safe handling, storage, charging, transport, and use in workplace. HSE also offer specialist battery testing services through HSE's Science and research Centre in Buxton, Derbyshire. Collaborating with industry and other public sector bodies our battery work has focused on safety, failure behaviour, fire/explosion risk, and regulatory compliance, especially for lithium-ion batteries, EV and BESS systems.
