Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) is a Jakarta-based energy think tank that conducts research and advocates for Indonesia's energy transition. It focuses on battery-related initiatives such as deploying solar-plus-storage (BESS) for rural electrification, promoting sustainable EV battery production with ethical nickel sourcing and recycling, and supporting second-life EV batteries for stationary storage; it also carries out policy advocacy, research, and workforce training to strengthen the battery and energy-storage supply chain.
