OHARA
About
OHARA is a Japanese maker of optical glass and glass ceramics that also produces LICGC, an oxide solid electrolyte with high lithium-ion conductivity.
LICGC is a NASICON-type glass ceramic with ionic conductivity of about 1×10⁻³ S/cm at 25°C; it is nonflammable, insoluble in water and stable in air, so it can be handled in normal atmosphere. OHARA sells it as PW-01 powder and SP-01 membranes for electrolytes and separators in next-generation lithium-ion batteries, as well as CO2 sensors, capacitors and lithium recovery from seawater. Its main business is optical glass for lenses, low-Tg glass for molded lenses, and specialty glass ceramics such as CLEARCERAM-Z and NANOCERAM.
The 2025 Battery Report lists OHARA among solid-state battery players in Asia-Pacific, in its oxide electrolyte group.
