About

Packet Digital designs, tests and manufactures smart batteries and power systems for unmanned aircraft systems.

Its batteries pair cells with electronics that report state of charge, monitor cell temperatures, manage storage discharge and log faults. It also makes smart chargers, fleet management software, power distribution boards and maximum power point trackers, and offers custom battery design, pack assembly and PCB assembly. Its subsidiary Badland Batteries sells off-the-shelf drone batteries and makes lithium-ion pouch cells.

Packet Digital was founded in 2003 in Fargo, North Dakota, where it runs a 25,000-square-foot battery and PCB assembly facility. In October 2026 Badland Batteries opened an 80,000-square-foot cell plant in Fargo that the company says can make more than 15,000 cells per day.
