Tyfast is a battery materials company that develops a lithium vanadium oxide, LVO, anode for high-power lithium-ion cells used in heavy-duty trucking, mining, construction and defense vehicles.
The company says the anode enables much faster charging, longer cycle life, charging below freezing and zero-volt storage, while keeping EV-grade energy density.
Tyfast was founded in 2021 in San Diego, California, to commercialize LVO anode research. Volta Foundation's 2020 Battery Report featured that research, which was published by co-founder Ping Liu's group. The LVO anode uses US-sourced raw materials, and anode powder, coated electrodes and pouch cells are available for evaluation. Its first patent was issued in February 2026.
