Aepnus Technology
About
Aepnus Technology builds electrolyzers that turn sodium sulfate waste into the reagents industry buys, starting with caustic soda and sulfuric acid.
Its patented salt-splitting electrolyzer avoids rare catalysts such as iridium, and the company adds impurity removal and product purification so the regenerated chemicals can go back into the customer's process on site. Its commercial-cell pilot and test bed is at its Oakland headquarters, and a pilot in Bécancour, Quebec runs on sodium sulfate with support from Ultium CAM (GM and POSCO), Vale and Nemaska Lithium. A demonstration plant for more than 500 tonnes of sodium sulfate a year is planned. It also lists offices in Montréal and Stuttgart.
The 2025 Battery Report shows Aepnus under Other Battery Chemicals on its map of emerging players valued above $30 million.
