Zochem
About
Zochem is a North American producer of zinc oxide, made by the French Process, for uses from tires and rubber to pharmaceuticals and batteries.
It calls itself the largest dedicated zinc oxide producer in North America, with over 100,000 tonnes of capacity. It is headquartered in Dickson, Tennessee, with a second plant in Brampton, Ontario, whose Canadian roots go back to 1933. For batteries, Zochem supplies high-purity zinc oxide used in anodes and electrolytes of nickel-zinc, zinc-air, zinc-bromide and zinc-iron flow, and zinc-ion and zinc-manganese batteries. In 2023 it took a 40% stake in IEQSA, a Peruvian zinc materials maker.
The 2025 Battery Report lists Zochem in the Americas supply chain for zinc batteries.
