Boston Dynamics
About
Boston Dynamics develops mobile robots for industrial work.
Its products are Spot, a four-legged robot for inspection and sensing; Stretch, a case-handling robot for warehouses; and Atlas, an all-electric humanoid it is developing into a commercial product. Its Orbit software manages robot fleets, and its solutions cover industrial inspection, safety and emergency response, digital twins and warehouse automation. Marc Raibert founded the company in 1992 as a spin-off from the MIT Leg Lab, and Spot became commercially available in 2020. Customers include DHL, bp and National Grid, and it works with Hyundai Motor Group.
The 2025 Battery Report notes that Boston Dynamics and Toyota Research Institute showed Atlas autonomously performing a complex sequence of tasks using a large behavior model.
