About
Giyani Metals is developing a supply of battery-grade manganese for EV and energy storage batteries.
It plans to control every step itself, from ore in Botswana to products for precursor (pCAM) makers. Its K.Hill Project in Botswana is planned as a mine and processing facility in a Special Economic Zone. Its hydrometallurgical process has been validated from lab to demonstration scale, and its demonstration plant in Johannesburg, South Africa, built at one-tenth the scale of the planned commercial plant, has produced both high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate (HPMSM) and high-purity manganese oxide (HPMO). Backers include South Africa's IDC and ARCH Emerging Partners.
The 2025 Battery Report notes Giyani's first shipment of high-purity battery-grade manganese from its demonstration plant to potential offtakers for testing and qualification.
