Global Battery Alliance
About
The Global Battery Alliance is a public-private collaboration platform working toward a sustainable, responsible and circular battery value chain by 2030.
It brings together more than 140 organizations, including companies, NGOs, academics and governments, which take part in initiatives on circularity and critical minerals. Its main project is the GBA Battery Passport, a sustainability reporting and certification scheme for batteries that it aims to launch in 2027. The passport builds on the alliance's Battery Benchmarks for ESG due diligence and its greenhouse gas rulebook for battery carbon footprints.
The alliance was incubated by the World Economic Forum in 2017 and incorporated as an independent not-for-profit in Belgium in 2022. Its mailing address is in Brussels.
In the Battery Report
Global Battery Alliance is named on 3 pages across 2 editions of Volta Foundation's annual Battery Report.
