About
GridBeyond is an Irish energy company whose AI platform manages and trades flexible energy assets, including battery storage.
Its DERMS and virtual power plant platform covers batteries, renewables, gas peakers, CHP and industrial demand. For battery owners it offers an end-to-end service covering project development, optimisation of trading and dispatch from a 24/7 operations centre, and long-term maintenance. Commercially launched in 2010 and led by Michael Phelan and Richard O'Loughlin, it reports 5 GW under management for more than 550 clients at over 1,400 sites in five countries. Samsung Ventures joined its shareholders in 2026 as part of a EUR 12 million equity investment.
The 2025 Battery Report lists GridBeyond among optimizers serving North America and the UK in its BESS tech stack.
