Litona
About
Litona is a German developer of sodium-ion battery cells and Prussian White electrode materials.
It supplies cells, coated electrodes and Prussian White powder, aiming for a European supply chain built on locally sourced, abundant materials. It says its cells avoid critical raw materials, can be transported and stored safely at zero volts, and offer long cycle life and temperature stability, while using existing supply chains to scale faster. Founded in 2023, Litona grew out of research in Prof. Jeff Dahn's lab at Dalhousie University and was developed further at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. It operates a research centre in Ulm, Germany, and its founders are former Tesla battery researchers.
The 2025 Battery Report lists Litona among sodium-ion battery players in Europe, in its materials group.
