Toshiba
About
Toshiba is a Japanese technology group that also makes SCiB lithium-ion batteries.
Its businesses include power generation and distribution, infrastructure systems, semiconductors and hard disk drives, and retail and printing systems. It makes SCiB, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that uses lithium titanium oxide in the anode for safety and long life. SCiB cells, modules and packs are used in cars, buses, railway cars, elevators, automated guided vehicles, data center UPS systems, container cranes and large battery storage systems. Its next-generation SCiB Nb cell uses a niobium titanium oxide anode.
The 2025 Battery Report notes the June 2025 start of SCiB Nb sample shipments and includes Toshiba in its view of EV battery makers by cell format.
