Genomines
About
Genomines is a biotechnology and agriculture company that grows nickel.
It cultivates "metal farms" of hyperaccumulator plants, genetically enhanced to pull nickel from low-grade or polluted soils into their biomass, which is then harvested and processed. The company says it has produced 99.98% battery-grade nickel sulfate hexahydrate from its plants, and that its approach cuts cash cost per ton by about 40% and lowers emissions compared with conventional laterite extraction. Fabien Koutchekian and Dali Rashid founded it in 2021 in the Entrepreneur First Paris cohort; Forbion and The Engine Ventures sit on its board.
The 2025 Battery Report shows Genomines in the Nickel, Cobalt Mining box of its map of emerging players valued above $30 million.
