Huayou Cobalt
About
Huayou Cobalt (Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt) is a Chinese maker of lithium battery materials and cobalt materials, founded in 2002.
Its five business segments are new energy materials, new materials, nickel in Indonesia, mineral resources in Africa, and recycling. It makes cathode materials, including lithium cobalt oxide and high- and mid-nickel ternary products, plus ternary precursors, cobalt tetroxide, cobalt and nickel metal, and lithium carbonate from recycled scrap. Its cathode sites are in Chengdu, Tianjin, Guangxi, Quzhou and Europe, for consumer electronics, EVs and energy storage.
The 2025 Battery Report shows Huayou across several large-cap value-chain boxes, lists it among cathode and LFP producers, and notes Toyota Tsusho cutting its stake in LG Chem's Gumi cathode plant.
