About
OptiGrid is an Australian software company that optimises and trades hybrid and standalone batteries in the National Electricity Market.
Its OptiBidder platform uses machine-learning price forecasts and optimisation models to help battery owners, retailers and developers bid, manage risk and monitor assets, for projects from under 5 MW to utility scale; it also offers OpenBESS. The company grew out of university research begun in 2020 on electricity price forecasting and battery trading, prompted by co-founder Dr Ali Pourmousavi. Sahand Karimi, a former AEMO engineer, is CEO and founder, and customers include Ampyr.
The 2025 Battery Report lists OptiGrid among UK and Australian optimizers in its BESS tech stack.
