NaSICON (sodium super ionic conductor) works selectively and at low temperature. The company uses NaSICON in a long-duration energy storage system that separates power from energy, so storage capacity can be sized to the market; the company says it offers higher energy density than other flow batteries and beats lithium-ion on cost at seven hours and beyond. NaSICON also powers its DSU process, which removes sulphur and metals from heavy oils to make low-sulphur marine fuel. Enlighten says the membrane is commercial and ready for manufacturing scale-up.

The 2025 Battery Report lists Enlighten among sodium-ion players (full systems) and among metal-air and flow battery players in the Americas.
