Rodatherm Energy
About
Rodatherm Energy develops Waterless Geothermal Systems (WGS) that generate firm baseload electricity from the Earth's heat.
Instead of water, its closed-loop wells use an organic, low-GWP refrigerant that vaporises at depth and drives a turbo expander, the system's only moving part. It uses proven drilling techniques and repeatable well pads of under 5 acres, so plants can be sited near cities, industrial areas and other large loads, including AI infrastructure. Founder and CEO Curtis Cook previously founded and ran Vesta Energy, a Canadian shale oil company, and Rodatherm targets sedimentary basins worldwide.
The 2025 Battery Report shows Rodatherm in the 'energy supply' layer of the AI energy stack on its data center page.
