Ecotricity
About
Ecotricity is a British green energy company that supplies renewable electricity and gas to homes and businesses and builds its own generation.
Founded in 1995 by Dale Vince, it says it was the world's first green energy supply company, and it went on to build Britain's first megawatt-scale windmill, the country's first grid-scale sun park, and 'green gasmills' that make biomethane from grass. It has generated electricity from its own wind and sun parks for 30 years and reinvests customers' bills in new green generation instead of paying dividends. It also offers smart meters and home battery and solar products.
The 2025 Battery Report lists Ecotricity among UK optimizers and aggregators in its BESS tech stack.
