Volklec
About
Volklec is a UK manufacturer of lithium-ion battery cells, building national capacity for customers who want a domestic, traceable cell supply.
It makes 21700 cylindrical cells, in energy and power versions, under an exclusive licence from an established cell maker active since 2009, combining that chemistry with UK production. Manufacturing is based at the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) in Coventry. Volklec pitches shorter lead times, simpler audit trails and origin-compliant supply for sectors including defense, and works with integrators as well as end customers.
The 2025 Battery Report notes Volklec's plan to produce NMC cells for e-scooters, e-bikes and chargers by the end of 2025 and EV batteries in the second half of 2026.
