From its site in Flintbek near Kiel it coats electrode foils to each customer's formulation, on a line coating up to 750 mm wide at up to 60 m per minute, and builds prototype and series pouch and cylindrical cells. It offers about 1.5 GWh of capacity and describes itself as a gigafactory for premium markets, supporting projects from lab scale to mass production and the industrialization of new technologies. Marius Strack and Dr. Stefan Permien founded it, and it has about 92 staff.

The 2025 Battery Report lists UniverCell among European pilot lines and R&D services, emerging lithium-ion cell makers and high-performance cell suppliers.
