AVESS Energy
About
AVESS Energy is an Australian maker of vanadium flow batteries (VFBs) that owns and develops its own VFB stack technology.
Its patented 25 kW stack, which it says is the largest in Australia with over 80% efficiency, is at Technology Readiness Level 7 and has been deployed to 1 MW in South Korea. AVESS has designed and built a 50 kW / 200 kWh VFB prototype, an Australian first, and is optimising it for deployment with support from the WA Government's Carbon Innovation Grant Program. It targets mining, utilities, renewable generators, data centres, microgrids, defence and remote communities. Partners include KEPCO and KETEP of South Korea.
The 2025 Battery Report lists AVESS among Asia-Pacific flow battery players and notes its funding through the Carbon Innovation Grant Program.
