Jena Flow Batteries
About
Jena Flow Batteries is a German supplier of redox flow battery systems for industrial and grid energy storage, with iron-chromium, vanadium and organic chemistries.
It is a subsidiary of China's Suqian Time Energy Storage Technology, which supplies GWh-scale production capacity. The company was set up in 2023 to continue the work of JenaBatteries GmbH, which developed the metal-free organic flow battery invented at the University of Jena in 2012 to 2015. It sells containerised flow battery modules from 1 MWh, OEM components such as bipolar plates, felts, membranes and stacks for other flow battery makers, and AEM water electrolysers.
The 2025 Battery Report lists Jena Flow Batteries among Europe's flow battery players.
