Unbound Potential
About
Unbound Potential is a Swiss company developing a flow battery without a membrane, for stationary long-duration storage.
Its cell uses two immiscible water-based liquids, which reduces the stack to two robust parts that can be made with existing industrial processes. The company says the design reaches up to 85% round-trip efficiency, lasts more than 20,000 cycles and has a 30% lower carbon footprint than conventional redox flow batteries. Unbound Potential AG was incorporated in January 2023 in Thalwil, near Zurich, has raised EUR 14.4 million in grants and equity, and plans to deploy its first containerised system in Thalwil by mid-2026.
The 2025 Battery Report lists it among Europe's flow battery players and notes its grant and pre-seed funding, with Founderful as lead equity investor.
