Offgrid Energy Labs
About
Offgrid Energy Labs is an Indian company developing ZincGel, a lithium-free zinc-bromide battery that stores renewable power for 6 to 16 hours.
The battery uses a water-based electrolyte and needs no lithium, cobalt, nickel or rare earths, and it is built with simpler processes than lithium-ion through qualified manufacturing partners rather than its own gigafactory. Offgrid targets renewable energy plants, industrial decarbonisation and data centres. Its four co-founders are Tejas Kusurkar, who leads R&D, CTO Brindan Tulachan, Rishi K Srivastava and Ankur Agarwal.
The 2025 Battery Report lists Offgrid among Asia-Pacific zinc battery manufacturers, cites it with Eos as a leader in simple non-flow zinc designs, and notes its $15M Series A round, with Archean Chemical Industries as investor.
