Its business items include battery-related manufacturing devices, coaters for optical and functional films and high-speed thin-film lines, cast film and magnetic material coating devices, ceramic sheet equipment, carbon fibre and ceramic thermal processing devices, and deodorisers. Its test staff support customers from planning through test runs, including coaters for research laboratories. Founded in 1912 in Osaka, it has a Tokyo branch and a plant in Yasu, Shiga, about 257 employees and sales of 20.7 billion yen in the year to March 2026.

The 2025 Battery Report lists Techno Smart among Japanese battery equipment makers for the coating step.
